Location & Climate

Martinborough is located in the Wairarapa region in the South East of New Zealand’s North
Island. Located at the end of SH53, 20kms off SH2 and just 1hr 15 minutes drive north east
from Wellington and 3hrs 45 minutes drive south west from Napier.

The Wairarapa is bordered by the Rimutaka and Tararua mountain ranges to the west and wild
Pacific coastline to the east. On a clear day you can see all the way to the South Island from
Cape Palliser, the southernmost point on the North Island.

Martinborough enjoys warm, dry summers with an average summer daytime temperature of

strong North Westerly winds, a fact confirmed by the direction in which the trees all seem to
lean. Autumn is characterised by warm days, cool nights and a riot of colour as the leaves on
the vines and trees turn beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red.
