Est has created a beautiful new space that exudes warmth and life. The Martinborough restaurant's wine bar has been redesigned, and opened in February. The atmosphere falls between rustic and sleek in this polished hideaway set in the 19th Century former Post Office on the town's square. Alongside the familiar restaurant surrounds with the open fire, the new wine bar offers a fine place to assuage your appetite. During the day it has a casual elegance and by night it exudes class and style, with sumptuous textures setting an attitude of quiet sophistication. The evening can be spent tucked into one of the intimate booths of supple charcoal and burnished wood. The bar has been designed with a palpable energy and passion. Frequenters settle in to these surrounds to enjoy a select range of cocktails, wine and an innovative range of tasting plates. The design of the cocktail list, purely inspired by the classics of the 1950's, is for that time of day when you kick back and relax with a martini or Manhattan. Imbibers are encouraged by the quirky but friendly staff to explore the extensive and well chosen wine list of over 150 wines, with many offered by the taste, glass, or bottle. Flights of local wines are served in quartets of Pinot Noir, or Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Usually elusive cellar selections and reserve wines are offered by the taste or glass. This unique wine tasting experience offers the the knowledge and wines selected by est's Restaurant sommilier, Jeremy O'Brien. The bar menu is built for cavorting with wine. The wine list is particularly enjoyable when explored and paired with the bold and deliberate flavors of the Tasting plates and platters by head chef, Steven Carson. |
